Fiberglass and FRP Grating Prices for Molded Panels
Our published molded FRP grating base prices run from USD 7.5 to 23.1 per m² ex-works for the economical isophthalic polyester + alumina filler formulation. The USD 7.5 starting row is an ordinary-environment tree-pit configuration; industrial duties need a configuration-specific quote.

What Changes an FRP Grating Quote?
Set the required duty and configuration first, then compare the same finished pieces and delivery scope.
Match the duty before comparing prices
The table covers our named economical formulation for ordinary environments only. Factory experience for this particular formulation is around three years of service, with cracking from about one year. These are experience figures, not a warranty or a rating for every isophthalic polyester product. Strong corrosive exposure needs a different, reviewed formulation.
Compare complete configurations
Thickness alone does not identify a panel. Mesh, bar geometry, mold version, resin and surface must match. Schedule weights follow the mold records and may differ from nominal product summaries. More weight is neither a load rating nor proof of a better resin; check span, load, exposure and required performance first.
Price the actual supply scope
Concave is the standard surface. Grit and other surface or functional requirements are quoted for the order. Full-panel dimensions determine the area purchased; cut sizes and quantities determine nesting loss and fabrication. Ask which treatments, clips, sealing, packing and documents are included before adding any costs.
For wastewater, chemical contact, fire/smoke criteria or a longer service-life target, send the actual duty. Vinyl ester, epoxy and phenolic directions are quoted separately against the requirements; the resin name alone does not settle compatibility or a performance rating.
How Resin Choice Changes the FRP Grating Price
Different resin systems and formulations have different prices, even for panels with the same thickness, mesh and dimensions. The published schedule applies to the named economical isophthalic polyester + alumina filler formulation. A change in resin requires a quotation for that specific configuration.
For vinyl ester, epoxy or phenolic grating, request a project quote. Send the chemical medium, concentration and operating temperature where relevant, along with any fire/smoke or other performance requirements. We review these conditions with the panel structure, finish, quantity and fabrication before quoting.
When comparing suitable resin options, keep the panel geometry, surface, quantity and delivery scope consistent so you can identify the actual material-related price difference. Request a quote for your resin and application.
Calculate the Price per Panel or Square Foot
For fiberglass grating price and cost comparisons, keep the same configuration and supply scope when changing units. FRP and GRP are both used as names for glass-reinforced plastic grating; a different name or unit is not a different material grade.
For the 40 × 40 × 25 mm ordinary-environment tree-pit base in the schedule, a listed 1220 × 4040 mm panel has an area of 1.22 × 4.04 = 4.9288 m². At the published USD 7.5/m² EXW rate, its plain-panel amount is about USD 36.97, before cutting, treatments, clips, packing and freight. This is a calculation from the schedule, not an order quotation, a stock promise or a walkway load approval.
An area rate in USD/m² divided by approximately 10.764 gives USD/ft². For that same row, USD 7.5/m² is about USD 0.70/ft², with the same formulation and EXW exclusions. Use the original m² rate for the quotation calculation rather than multiplying a rounded display conversion.
The mesh dimensions are the schedule identifiers; confirm the actual pitch, clear opening and bar geometry on the drawing. Special-pattern rows cannot be selected reliably from thickness or an opening count alone. Mold-record masses are approximate configuration references, not substitutes for the ordered specification or matched load data.
Full Panels or Factory-Cut Pieces: Compare the Same Finished Job
Factory cutting is quoted on the delivered piece area, considering the exact sizes and the loss they create. The cut-piece area rate is normally higher than the corresponding plain-panel rate. Its value depends on the finished job: fewer on-site cuts may help, but a higher rate is not automatically offset by a smaller purchased area.
Ask two questions when comparing a “free cutting” offer with another quote: what material area is being charged, and which work is already included? Free straight cuts do not by themselves tell you whether the charge is for whole panels or finished pieces. Equally, a cut-piece rate that already allows for nesting loss should not have that same loss added a second time.
Worked Example: Full-Panel and Finished-Piece Areas
For a separate area-only teaching example, nine rectangular pieces of 400 × 1200 mm have a delivered area of 9 × 0.4 × 1.2 = 4.32 m². A 1220 × 3660 mm panel has a full area of 4.4652 m². An assumed 4 mm saw kerf allows three pieces across and three along in a rectangular layout. The difference of 0.1452 m² includes saw loss and remaining material; it is not a standard waste allowance.
Before using this layout, check the available mold size, edge trimming, complete bars, opening positions and supports. The 3660 mm teaching panel is not the 4040 mm panel used in the dollar calculation above, so its material rate must be confirmed separately.
| Compare | Cost basis |
|---|---|
| Buy a full panel and cut on site | 4.4652 × the confirmed full-panel rate, plus site cutting, tools, requested edge treatment and separately charged logistics. |
| Order the nine finished pieces | 4.32 × the confirmed cut-piece rate, plus only the fabrication, accessories or logistics not already included. |
Use actual quotations for the two rates. Confirm whether usable offcuts are supplied and who keeps them; do not automatically treat all remaining material as discarded. The lower total is the route with the better complete scope for your project. Prepare a cut list and review edge sealing.
From Ex-Works Price to Your Project Budget
The table prices the plain panel at the factory. Our usual export quotations are FOB, so compare the stated port and included costs before comparing totals. A factory price, an FOB order amount and a delivered-to-site budget are different figures.
| Cost item | What to establish |
|---|---|
| Panels or finished pieces | Configuration, resin, surface, sizes, quantities, area basis and the matching unit rate. |
| Fabrication and accessories | Cuts, openings, requested resin sealing and matched M, L or C clips. Identify what the rate already includes; clips are supplied with grating orders and are not automatically free. |
| Packing and documents | Package sizes, protection, pallet/support arrangement, relevant factory documents and any additional inspection or testing. Only add charges actually quoted separately. |
| Supply to the named port | Check the FOB port and what the order amount includes for export and loading. Do not add the same cost again after it has been included. |
| Main transport and destination costs | Confirm freight, any arranged insurance, clearance, applicable import charges, local delivery and unloading with the responsible parties. These are not contained in the EXW area rate. |
FOB delivery is on board the vessel at the named loading port, with export clearance handled by the seller. The buyer normally arranges the main sea transport. If the actual handover is at a forwarder’s warehouse or a terminal instead, agree the appropriate term and responsibility split explicitly.
For a US or UK destination, send the country, city or port and the required arrival date. Import classification, applicable charges and transport arrangements need the actual shipment details; this page does not apply a universal duty, tax or freight percentage to the panel amount.
Small orders and bulk orders need different cost checks
We have no fixed minimum order quantity. For a few panels, packing, handling and transport may have more influence on the total than a small difference in the area rate. For a larger cut list, the size mix and nesting can matter as much as total square metres. Compare the delivered budget and timing before deciding whether a direct factory order fits the purchase.
There is no published automatic volume discount. Send the quantity and mix for a quote rather than treating 500 m² as a minimum or a discount trigger. Reducing the price by changing to a formulation that does not meet the duty is not a like-for-like saving.
Compare FRP and steel on the same duty
If you are also pricing steel, hold the required span, load, exposure and finished dimensions constant. Compare the panels and supports, fabrication, fixings, installation, transport, and the maintenance or replacement work the project actually expects. Without those inputs, neither a lower area rate nor a general “long life” claim proves the lower total cost. See the same-duty FRP and steel comparison.
Before accepting a quote, check its drawing revision, configuration, sizes and quantities, included work, currency, trade term, named port, payment, production schedule and validity. A price-table date tells you the reference used; only the quotation defines the offer for the order.

Order Quantity, Payment and Production
These are our usual arrangements. The accepted quotation confirms the actual order.
| Term | Details |
|---|---|
| Order quantity | No fixed minimum order. Small orders are reviewed with packing and freight. The suggestion to customise above 500 m² is an economic guideline, not a minimum or a published discount tier. |
| Samples | A standard 3 × 3 cell sample is free; the customer pays freight. Custom samples are charged. |
| Payment | Normally 50% deposit, with the balance before shipment. Confirm the terms in the accepted quotation. |
| Production | Normally 15–30 calendar days from receipt of deposit. This is production time; transit and arrival dates are planned separately. |
| Export quotation | Usually FOB. The quotation confirms the named port, currency, validity and costs included. |
| Packing | EPE foam and stretch film, normally with wooden pallets and iron supports for export. Confirm the package arrangement against the actual panel or piece sizes. |
| Inspection and documents | Routine appearance checks cover flatness, cracks and air holes. Ask for the factory report and certificate of conformity relevant to the order. Additional tests, inspection records and their costs are agreed separately. |
