Find Your Fiberglass (FRP) Grating Type

FRP grating combines glass fiber reinforcement with a thermosetting resin; it is also called fiberglass or GRP grating. It is an alternative to steel for corrosion-prone access areas when the resin and structure suit the duty.

An integral mesh for walkways, platforms and access flooring. Consider molded panels when loads and cutouts need to be reviewed in both directions.

A small upper mesh over a wider supporting mesh, commonly 19 × 19 mm over 38 × 38 mm. Consider it where smaller openings are needed, while keeping drainage and an open surface.

A practical starting point

Match Resin, Surface and Span

These are starting recommendations. Follow the guide for your actual exposure, supports and acceptance criteria.

When FRP is worth considering — Consider FRP for wet, salty or chemically exposed access areas when the resin suits the exposure. Its relatively low panel weight can help with handling and removable covers; compare actual piece weights with the steel alternative. Confirm the service temperature and structural requirements before replacing an existing metal panel. Compare FRP and steel for the same duty
Choose resin for the exposure — General-purpose polyester is our economical starting point for ordinary access. Isophthalic polyester is another candidate for water or chemical exposure. We usually start with vinyl ester for wastewater and chemical service; epoxy is assessed as a separate system. Compare actual grades against the chemical, concentration and temperature. Compare polyester, vinyl ester, epoxy and phenolic resins
Separate walking surface from special functions — Start with concave for general access, or grit for frequently wet or oily areas. Fire and smoke requirements can lead to a phenolic system or a specified fire-retardant formulation. Anti-static and UV treatments are separate choices, with their own acceptance criteria. Choose a surface, fire, anti-static or UV treatment
Match load capacity to the support span — Thickness alone does not tell you how much a panel can carry. Match the clear span, bearing direction, load type and allowable deflection to the exact configuration. A pedestrian panel is not automatically suitable for vehicles. Check FRP grating load and span requirements
Specify the pieces you need — Send panel sizes or a cut list, openings and quantity. We can cut and drill in the factory, add requested resin edge sealing, and match clips to panel height. Factory fabrication can reduce site work and unused material. Check panel thickness, mesh and available sizes

Construction site access

Our usual starting configuration is isophthalic unsaturated polyester resin with alumina filler — the economical direction — 30 mm thick with 38 × 38 mm mesh, for pedestrian access in ordinary environments. Support spacing still determines the usable load.

How to Order FRP Grating

Quote the actual order

Quotes are normally FOB. Cut pieces are generally priced by delivered area, with their dimensions and cutting loss affecting the unit price. Yellow, green, blue, gray, black and custom colors are available.

Start with a sample or small order

A standard 3 × 3 cell sample is free; the customer pays freight. Custom samples are charged. There is no fixed MOQ, and small orders are reviewed against freight and fabrication cost.

Plan production and shipping

Normal terms are 50% deposit, with the balance before shipment. Production usually takes 15–30 calendar days from deposit; transit is additional. Export packing normally uses EPE foam, stretch film, wooden pallets and iron supports.

The suggestion to customize above 500 m² is an economic guideline, not a minimum order requirement.

Fiberglass (FRP) Grating Purchasing Questions

What information do you need for an FRP grating quotation?

Start with the application, sizes or drawing, quantity and destination. Include support spacing, loads, chemicals and temperatures if known. You can send an incomplete brief and ask for help with product or resin selection.

Is factory cutting always cheaper than buying full panels?

It depends on the cut list and material loss. Cut pieces can have a higher price per square meter, while reducing the full-panel area, offcuts and site work the customer pays for. We compare the actual sizes rather than promise a fixed saving.

Does a thicker panel or a higher-grade resin guarantee more load capacity?

No. Clear span, support conditions, bearing direction, load type and allowable deflection must match the panel. Changing resin to suit a chemical environment does not replace a structural load check.

Can I request fire-retardant, anti-static or UV-resistant grating?

Yes. State the required function and acceptance criteria before ordering. Resin, additives or surface treatment are selected accordingly; a resin family or panel color alone does not prove a tested performance grade.

Is FRP grating maintenance-free?

No. Clean the grating and inspect bars for cracking or fiber exposure, surface wear and loose fixings. Repairs must suit the resin and any grit, conductive or protective layer. The maintenance interval depends on the environment, loading and condition of the supplied panels.

How are delivery problems or quality issues handled?

For quantity discrepancies, transport damage or product quality issues, we review the order and the actual problem to agree replacement, refund or another suitable remedy. Warranty and feedback periods are agreed per order; a small ordering allowance can help cover cutting or transport loss.
